week 3 journal entry

Week 3 has been very challenging for me to absorb , as I identified some crucial learning gaps with some of my employees. Our week assignment  really helped me identify what steps me and the rest of our management team needed to take in order to support our tellers with their cash balancing. I also found our discussions very helpful to see what areas of opportunity e-learning has from different points of view. Our discussions made me realize that I need to check in with my tellers after they complete any training to see if it was effective and to fill in any learning gaps. Overall, this week has made me very mindful of everyone's learning style and how to take ownership of our tellers' areas of opportunity and "zap the gap" as our lecture says before it is too late. I'm excited to implement the changes I came up with and hold myself accountable to follow through with my employees so they can feel consistency in their job.

Week 2 Journal Entry

What have you discovered this week? This week has been such an amazing learning experience on so many levels. In the beginning of the week my mind was going already through our class discussions. I really like how our discussions were about employee engagement and the value of assessment which really helped setting the tone for our week assignment.  Our assignment consisted of developing a 10 question survey to connect with 10 employees around team member engagement.  This assignment was the most powerful to me. I was able to identify some areas of opportunity when it comes to my management and some strengths as well. I realized through our textbook as well that it is crucial to be and look available to your team.  My lack of availability created uncertainty with some team members as to whom they should escalate issues to  . Overall, I have taken away the value of checking in with my team, and verifying where they stand with engagement in order to develop an action...

week 1 journal entry HRM 540

This first week in HRM 540 has been such a great learning experience for me.  This is the first class so far that has been the most exciting for me.  One of the things that surprised me about this course is that Human Resources can be so creative and fun. I used to think that HR was all about policies and procedures. However this class is allowing me the opportunity to visualize different aspects of HR. For example ,our first assignment was to build a competency model & career path for our very own job. At first I was so nervous , because I felt like describing a job or career path is always a long paragraph full of explanations. However this first assignment gave me the opportunity to visually describe a potential career path and expectations for someone who is considering my job. This task has made me realize how important it is to make a connection with your potential employees by helping them to visualize options in their career path. Something that I already started...
